Trina Turk, Nicole Miller at Dallas Markets

Designers Nicole Miller and Trina Turk will be among those making personal appearances Oct. 21–24 at two separate Dallas apparel markets.

California designer Turk will be part of a public question-and-answer session with Dallas television personality Mattie Roberts, who hosts the lifestyle program “Mondays With Mattie” on TXCN television. Roberts and Turk will discuss trends and the designer’s new collection at 5:45 p.m. on Oct. 21 to launch the Fashion Industry Gallery market in downtown Dallas. Turk’s line is carried in the Laurie Hasson Showroom at the FIG.

The new showroom center will debut its million-dollar sculptural park, which will be the venue of the opening-night cocktail party. The event will feature the Booker T. Washington Choir along with deejay entertainment, samplings from local restaurants, and drinks courtesy of Tunnel Energy Drink and Vox Vodka.

Phase two of the FIG is set to open next spring for the March market.

Nicole Miller will make a personal appearance at FashionCenterDallas, located in the World Trade Center, where the October apparel market will be held. Miller will greet buyers on Oct. 22 at her corporate showroom in suite 15121 and will be part of a fashion and trends presentation with Leon Hall at 6:15 p.m. on Oct. 23. A reception for buyers will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 22 in the contemporary area of FCD. Another reception for designer Peter Nygaring;rd will take place from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 23.

The market will be capped by the Dallas Fashion Awards, which will honor several Los Angeles–based lines. Tiffany & Co.’s John Loring and the Missoni family will receive special honors.

Two new showrooms will be part of the market: Garfield & Marks and Womyn have taken space in suites 15789 and 15997. Both brands were recently purchased by a group of investors led by Edward M. Jones III and Alex Garfield.

“We are pleased to be part of the fresh energy in FashionCenterDallas,” Jones said.

In addition, several West Coast resources will debut lines. Future Vintage by Joie and Robert Rodriguez will be shown in the 10 Eleven/Hatch showroom. Los Angeles rep Cristina Angarola will bring silk camis by Gold Hawk and hand-embroidered shirts by Joystick to the show, and West Coast resource Johnny Was will debut JWLA, a division featuring printed silk separates and twosided embroidered T-shirts. Two Ten Ten Five, a new division from Biya featuring casual designer apparel, is also new to Dallas. —Robert McAllister
