Italian Line to Bow at L.A. Market

Hand-screened T-shirts emblazoned with heraldic symbols and crests are the focus of Italian designer Anna Domenici’s Spring collection, which will debut during the Oct. 29–Nov. 2 run of the Los Angeles Fashion Market at the Crayola Sisters showroom, located in suite A279 of the California Market Center.

Crayola showroom owner Lynne Andresevic said she saw the colorful shirts in a New York boutique and had to bring them to the West Coast.

“Crests and heraldry are images that are prominent in fashion right now,” Andresevic said. “They’re colorful, bright and classic. They can appeal to young and old.”

Crayola rep Michelle Stojakovic said she expects buyers will find that the collection accessorizes well. “It’s an item thing. You can change their whole wardrobe with these, and with sublimation-prints dyeing, this is the newest thing,” she noted.

The shirts, designed in Tuscany, are inspired by the Palio, the historic horse race that takes place every summer in the Piazza del Campo in Siena, Italy. Domenici based the collection on the crests worn by the Contrada families, the founders of Siena who compete in the race with their family crests displayed before several thousand international spectators.

The shirts come in round-neck, V-neck, mock-turtleneck and cap-sleeve cuts. The garments are 93 percent cotton and 7 percent Lycra. Wholesale prices start at $59.

“These can hang with Custo [Barcelona],” Andresevic said. —Robert McAllister
