Manhattan Beachwear Relocates

Manhattan Beachwear—manufacturer of Surfside, VM, Via Marina and Maxine—announced the relocation of its headquarters and additions to its sales team.

The company—which holds the licenses for Hobie, Hot Kiss, Kenneth Cole Reaction and Kenneth Cole NY swimwear—will move its headquarters from Commerce, Calif., to a larger facility at 6600 W. Katella Ave. in Cypress, Calif., in September.

Brenda West, vice president of Manhattan Beachwear, said the new facility was needed because of the growth the company is expecting from its merger last year with Maxine Swim Group. “We have been steadily growing as a company, and moving our headquarters to a larger facility has become a necessity,” she said.

The company will dedicate nearly 181,000 square feet to the new corporate headquarters, warehouse and distribution center.

In addition, two new sales representatives have joined Manhattan Beachwear’s sales team. Nikki Nettle will be responsible for the East Coast and Midwest sales of the juniors labels: Hot Kiss, Hobie and Surfside. Nettle, who was an assistant buyer for The May Department Stores Co., will be based out of the new Orange County headquarters.

Christine Darbonne, a former free-lance sales rep, will head up sales in the Southwest for Manhattan Beachwear’s juniors labels and private brands.

“We are truly excited about the addition of Nikki and Christine to our sales force,” West said. “We have a strong sales force already in place, and they are a welcome addition to the team. We are looking forward to a great selling year.”

Lisa Keen, director of sales, is now responsible for all West Coast and Northwest sales.
