Victorian-Inspired Styles From Katherine Harestad

Designer Katherine Harestad describes her newly launched collection as “a brand-new line by someone who has been in the business for 20 years.”

Harestad launched the White Rose label, which she sold in 1999, and helped launch the Amourette brand. During her White Rose days, she was based in Northern California. She has since relocated to Santa Monica, Calif., where she launched the Katherine Harestad line last year.

Harestad described the small, upscale collection as a continuation of her design style at White Rose. “[It’s] updated, very romantically styled with the Victorian details that I’m known for,” she said.

The first shipment of silk charmeuse and silk chiffon babydoll chemises, bralettes and bikinis trimmed in lace shipped to retailers, including Ron Herman–Fred Segal Melrose, and better specialty boutiques in Southern California, Hawaii and Seattle.

Her latest collection includes Victorian-inspired cottons with delicate lace details. “My line will always be vintage-inspired,” noted Harestad, who said she eventually plans to include knits and prints in the collection.

Wholesale prices range from $20 to $40 for panties and camisoles to up to $90 for more elaborate silk gowns. The new cotton pieces range in price from $30 to $40. The domestically produced collection is made from domestic cotton fabric and imported silks.

The Kris Mesner Showroom, located in California Market Center suite A1033, is carrying the collection. For more information, call (213) 623-7890.
