Textile Group Changes Name

With the new year comes a new name for the Textile Professional Club.

At its monthly meeting on Jan. 12, Maria Contino, the club’s vice president, announced that the group’s new name will be The Professional Club.

The name change reflects the fact that there are few textile people among the club’s more than 250 members. Most of the members, who pay $65 a year to join, are accountants, factors, attorneys and bankers serving the apparel and textile industry in Southern California.

“The name was changed so we can take in more people beyond the textile industry,” said Joe Kofsky, the club’s secretary. “We are starting to get people with other interests.”

The Textile Professional Club was established in 1958. The only requirement to join The Professional Club is that a person be engaged in a profession serving or within the textile or apparel industries. The group meets monthly. For more information, visit www.textileprofessionalclub.com.
