AATCC Acquires CITDA

The Research Triangle Park, N.C.–based American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) purchased assets from the Computer-Integrated Textile Design Association (CITDA), including the CITDA name, logos, members list and Web site and CITDA Student Scholarship Competition. Both organizations conduct research for the textile industry and promote education within the field.

The AATCC said these assets will be important additions to its Concept 2 Consumer (C2C) activities, which help bridge the gap between the textile design and manufacturing communities. “With this acquisition, we will be able to provide our industry with additional learning opportunities and conduct projects for the benefit of our industry,” said C2C’s current chair, John A. Darsey Jr. of Color Solutions International.

CITDA board member Dee Dee Davis of Springs Industries added: “CITDA and AATCC are already developing a joint student design competition for the 2006 school year. We hope schools, students and faculty will watch for details that will be made available by the end of July.” —Robert McAllister
