Springs' Clareman Dies at 87

Ben Clareman, longtime textile executive, died on Feb. 23. He was 87.

A World War II veteran, Clareman joined the textile industry after the war, working as a sales executive with textile company Springs Industries for 30 years, where he sold textiles to such Los Angeles companies as Land and Sea and Rhapsody Blouse. He also served as a consultant to Self Esteem, the juniors manufacturer founded by his son, Richard.

“His loss is felt by so many people who felt a bond to him,” said his son Richard. “He had a great time being with my friends and associates and there will be a hole that can never be filled. He was 87, but he went too soon”

In addition to his son, he is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gloria; his daughter, Dr. Elizabeth Robinson; his children’s spouses, Beatrice and Brad; and six grandchildren.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to: Lankenau Hospital Development Office, In Memory of Ben Clareman, Lankenau Hospital, 100 Lancaster Ave., Wynnewood, Pa. 19096.
