Design Suites Move Closer to Smashbox Studios

In this, their fifth season, the Design Suites hosted by Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios will relocate for its March 21–23 run to a new, roomier home at HD Buttercup in Culver City, Calif. Previously held at The Beverly Hilton hotel, the Design Suites need extra room to accommodate its growing roster of vendors and two new categories: home accessories and beauty, organizers said.

The closer location means buyers, stylists and fashion-watchers will have less distance to travel, and the event’s organizers are hoping the more convenient location and new categories will increase traffic and attendance. Shuttle service to the Design Suites will be provided from Smashbox Studios.

Offering a cost-effective alternative for up-and-coming designers and companies looking to reach Fashion Week’s attendees, the Design Suites showcases goods from a variety of categories, including contemporary, action sportswear, swimwear, denim and accessories.

Set to show this season are Taverniti So Jeans, Antik Denim, Elvis Denim, Henry Duarte Jeans, Imitation of Christ, Yanuk, Sheiki Jeans, Jacquelyne Love, Clara Kasavina, Hadley Pollet, Lady Luck, Cass and Co. and Ginch Gonch. The deadline for interested vendors is March 15.

The Design Suites are open to the trade. For a full listing of exhibitors and more information, visit mbfashionweek.com/fall2006/the_suites/. —Erin Barajas
