MAGIC Marketplace's 'Vision' for Spring 2007

The MAGIC Marketplace presented a glimpse of the newest trends in its runway show “Vision: Men’s and Women’s Contemporary Collections Spring 2007” during the Aug. 28–31 run of the trade show at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

MAGIC’s Vision show opened with a tropical mood of paisley, floral and ethnic prints in sundresses and blouses paired with cuffed shorts for her. The earth-tone palette of rusty orange, mustard and faded red was key for the casual look. For men, cargo-style bottoms were paired with tropical- print shirts and linen fabrications that were relaxed but also put together.

The all-American combination of red, white and blue with a nautical spin continued on into Spring with the requisite stripes and anchor insignia. The trend stayed fresh with different hues of red, white and blue in polka-dot prints, plaids and chevron stripes. These prints dominated in dresses, knit tops and blouses paired with plain bottoms such as sailorstyle pants, shorts and capris. For men, peacoats and striped blazers were highlights of the preppy look.

Crisp white cotton worn head to toe was given texture and interest through eyelet and embroidery all mixed together. Empire-waist blouses were paired with all-over embroidered shorts, and the airy tent-shaped dresses had a sophisticated, dressed-up quality.

A slim silhouette was the latest in jeans, as shown through skinny dark, gray and black jeans and slim Bermuda shorts. Denim was paired with layers of extra-long colorful knit tanks and tees for an overall lean silhouette on her. Denim for men had a natural fade with the focus on the graphics and color on tops such as splatter paint, vintage Asian motifs and pop art.

The show closed with an eclectic selection of long dresses with mismatching prints and busy paisley and tie-dye patterns. The long, flowy dresses were paired with denim and leather jackets with a day-to-night feeling. For men, patchwork blazers and denim jackets with jeans had an urban twist. —Rhea Cortado
