Lectra Opens Subsidiary in India

Lectra has opened its first subsidiary in India in a move to capitalize on the growth of the country’s apparel and textile trade.

The new division opened last month in Bangalore, where all sales and service operations will take place for the company’s range of products, which include design software, cutters and other machinery.

Laxmanasandra Jayaram “L.J.” Prashanth is the new managing director of the division and will be responsible for defining, planning and coordinating all of Lectra’s activities in India, said Chief Executive Officer Daniel Harari.

Until now, Lectra had been operating in India through its agent Magnum Solutions Pvt Ltd., which will continue to work in India for Lectra. Harari said the focus for the new division will be on building and managing account relationships in the apparel, footwear and fashion accessories markets as well as in the automotive, home furnishings and industrial fabrics markets.
