Anand Jon's Support Team Claims Evidence Stolen

Several laptop computers that contained evidence relating to the Anand Jon sex-crime case have been stolen from Jon’s home in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, said a spokesperson for the designer’s family.

The evidence could be important to Jon’s defense, said Christopher Davis, a spokesperson for Jon’s family.

The Indian-born designer, whose legal name is Anand Jon Alexander, has been in Los Angeles County jail for a year and is facing more than 50 counts of rape and sexual assault against 20 women he met during the course of his fashion career. Some of the women were under 18 at the time of the alleged assaults, according to court documents.

Among the items taken in the alleged burglary were three laptops marked “attorney-client privilege.” Several other unmarked computers were left alone, along with more than $2,000 in cash.

According to a police report, there were no signs of forced entry. The burglary was reported by a litigation-support archivist who left the family’s home for a meeting. Upon returning, the worker noticed the computers were missing.

The missing evidence could hamper Jon’s case, which is expected to go to trial in coming months. Jon is facing up to life in prison. —Robert McAllister
