Levi's Premiere in S.F.

San Francisco–based Levi Strauss & Co. gave away 1,400 free tickets to the Nov. 10 screening of the Gus Van Sant film “Milk” at the Castro Theatre to celebrate the opening of a Levi’s store in the city’s Castro neighborhood. The film tells the story of San Francisco politician and gay-rights activist Harvey Milk. Levi’s philanthropic arm, the Levi Strauss Foundation, has also made two $50,000 donations to two nonprofits based in the area, MAGNET, a gay men’s health and community center, and the GLBT Historical Society, which will host a year-long temporary exhibition on the history of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community in Northern California.
