Wilhelmina Goes Public
New York–based modeling agency Wilhelmina International Ltd. struck a $30 million acquisition deal with New Century Equity Holding Corp. Under terms of the deal, which is expected to be finalized later this year, Wilhelmina will become the principal operating business of publicly traded New Century, which will change its name to Wilhelmina International Inc. The acquisition included Wilhelmina’s affiliated companies—Wilhelmina Models, Wilhelmina Miami, Wilhelmina Film & TV and Wilhelmina Artist Management—as well as the company’s offices in New York, Los Angeles and Miami. Founded 40 years ago by model Wilhelmina Cooper, the agency has represented such well-known names as Anjelica Huston, Lauren Hutton, Beverly Johnson, Jessica Lange, Mark Vanderloo, Fergie, Ciara, Brandy and David Leadbetter.
