New Resources Guide: Dream Culture

Dream Culture Chief Executive Officer Andrew Berne’s career in the fashion industry began in 1977 at his uncle’s New York–based textile company. Since then, Berne has been designing, merchandising, marketing and producing garments and textiles for a wide variety of branded manufacturers, national department stores and specialty stores.

His own brand, Los Angeles–based Dream Culture, launched for the Spring 2008 season and is sold in more than 200 boutiques and specialty stores in the United States, including National Jean Company, as well as on Dream Culture’s Web site. “The collection has developed a delicate balance of structure and fluidity by blending soft and hard pieces with a creative and critical eye,” Berne said. “While each style stands alone as a great separate, each season’s fresh perspective and mood create the perfect basis for a collection point of view.”

Berne said he enjoys working with soft, natural fabrics such as cotton, silk-chiffon, satin, linen and velveteen, as well as with textured contrasts, cross-dyed and sheer novelties, yarn-dyed textures, and soft-knitted stretch fabrics. He plans to add some eco-friendly elements to the line for the Spring/Summer 2010 collection.—Dena Smolek
