Miami Swim Fashion Week Cruise 2010: Vitamin A by AmahliaStevens

Amahlia Stevens was reading YSL’s biography when she designed her Cruise 2010 collection. St. Laurent’s glamorous Marrakesh period of the late ’60s and early ’70s inspired styles reminiscent of the time. The Orange County–based designer envisioned the glam women of the era—including Bianca Jagger and Lauren Hutton—while creating the effortlessly glamorous look. Bold rich colors such as pink, purple, turquoise were mixed with sophisticated neutrals including gold, black and white. Fabrics were luxe including a gloss silk used for tunics a custom diamond crochet knit for dresses. This season, Stevens created a variety of colorful prints, chic criss-cross bikini styles and one-pieces with sexy open backs. The collection included many of Stevens signature looks including Italian matte-gold hardware and the sexy, yet functional California-cut bottom. —N. Jayne Seward
