Hurley Partners With Motouml;rhead for Capsule Collection

Hurley, the Costa Mesa, Calif.–based surf brand, found an unlikely collaborator in the classic heavy-metal band Motouml;rhead. The results of the surf-meets-stage pairing is a capsule collection of T-shirts, hoodies, jackets and accessories for men and women that will land in stores June 15. The apparel, which was designed to look like vintage concert finds, features the graphics and details that fans associate with the Grammy Award–winning band, but with a Hurley twist. The band’s trademark “War Pig” icon makes an appearance, as do song titles and photos of the band.

“We’re proud that Hurley recognizes Motouml;rhead as not only being worthy of these fine threads but also being truly against the grain,” said Motouml;rhead founding member Lemmy Kilmister in a statement. “And we’re even prouder that a whole new era of youth culture will have the chance to wear that on their sleeves, chests, heads and backs.”

The capsule is part of Hurley’s ongoing “Against the Grain” series, which pairs the company with musicians. Previous collaborators included the late Joey Ramone of The Ramones. Retail prices range from $36 for a T-shirt to $180 for a denim jacket with embroidered patches.

“It’s a privilege for Hurley to collaborate with artists and musicians through the ’Against the Grain’ series,” explained Greg Teal, music and entertainment marketing manager at Hurley. “And this collection is no exception: We are honored to work with Motouml;rhead, truly one of the most iconic rock bands of all time.” —Erin Barajas
