I'm With the Band

No, seriously. They're so close I can unlace their sneakers.

Guests at Downtown L.A. Fashion Week got plenty of entertainment last night during the evening's final show "The Paper Bag Princess's Celebration of Valentino, The Last Emperor." True, there was no actual Valentino on the runway, but the people-watching and the band that kicked off the show were pretty sweet.

Which brings us to my point. From my seat, I was treated to a very up-close-and-personal look at the band which backed up Matt Goss, the Brit signer being hailed as "the new Frank Sinatra." Unlike Old Blue Eyes, Goss travels with a cadre of burlesque dancers/backup singers and a full band decked out in Buddy Holly-style tuxes and matching black Converse sneakers. So cute.

Some highlights:

Cool specs, horn player. Nicely done

Guitar player with mystique

The drummer had a sweater vest trimmed in red sequins

The downside of my band-side seats: this is all I saw of Matt Goss

Bonus people watching pic: Cheech and Chong, together again. Awesome!
