Taking Diamonds on a World Tour

Call it the Azature World Tour.
The single-named Los Angeles–based jewelry designer is kicking off a six-city tour this month starting with several events in Saudi Arabia, including a party to celebrate the collection’s launch at Harvey Nichols.
“I always wanted to be a rock star,” quipped Azature. “The Black Glove” tour will also stop in London, Moscow, Sydney and one other city (either Hong Kong or Tokyo) before returning to Los Angeles for the final event.
According to the designer, three private events are planned in the Middle East as well as a desert photo shoot.
Azature said he came up with the idea for the world tour after a client in Moscow hosted a private party in his honor earlier this year.
“Moscow was beyond phenomenal,” he said. Azature had met the client last year when he received a call from her asking if he could find a 10-carat black diamond. He found the diamond, made the piece and delivered it in time to the client. One year later, the client called Azature to offer to host a private dinner for 75 in his honor.
Azature’s family has been in the diamond business for 75 years. The Los Angeles native studied business and economics at the University of California–Los Angeles, where he started the student fashion organization Fashion and Student Trends, where student designers can showcase their work. FAST eventually expanded beyond UCLA to other colleges. After debating between law school and fashion school, Azature decided on fashion and moved to New York to attend Parsons School of Design. After working in the apparel industry for a few years, Azature began researching black diamonds before launching his own collection two years ago. Several months later, he followed up the collection with a diffusion line called A.Z. by Azature.
“Azature is about luxury—no matter what the price point is,” the designer said. “We use 75 years of experience to provide that quality.”
