Focusing on Chargeback Strategies

Minimizing chargebacks and markdowns is at the top of the agenda at an upcoming two-day workshop that will offer strategies for companies large and small.

“Essentials of Chargeback Management” is set for Nov. 10–11 at the California Market Center in downtown Los Angeles.

The first day will include basic information about the reasons retailers issue chargebacks to manufacturers and tips for managing chargebacks, including instituting tracking systems, setting policies and procedures, and negotiating vendor agreements.

The second day will focus on more-advanced strategies for companies looking to reduce the number of chargebacks and markdowns issued by retailers. Among the topics discussed will be how to create “value from authorized chargebacks,” establish department accountability and develop reports to analyze profitability, as well as sections on EDI/ASN routing, compliance and retail math.

Both days will end with an open forum, during which participants can discuss specific issues related to chargebacks and retail relations.

Presented by Chargeback Management Group, the workshops are endorsed by several organizations, including the Vendor Compliance Federation, the California Fashion Association, Ezra Brutzkus Gubner LLP, Stonefield Josephson Inc., Fashion Business Inc. and NYDJ Apparel LLC.

The cost to attend is $159 per workshop or $300 to attend both sessions. The workshops will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. both days in CMC suite C786.
