L.A. Fashion Week Plans Begin

Mark your calendars. The schedule for the upcoming Los Angeles Fashion Week is beginning to take shape.

Mikey Koffman, owner of The Gallery L.A. showroom in downtown Los Angeles and founder of L.A. Fashion Weekend, has announced dates and a partial list of designers for the upcoming L.A. Fashion Weekend. Set to be held at Sunset Gower Studios in Hollywood, the event will run Oct. 15–17 and will include presentations by White Trash Beautiful, Jessica Marks and Joy Rich.

The Los Angeles chapter of Fashion Group International is planning a grand-scale event created to coincide with the 75th anniversary of FGI.

The group will host a VIP dinner and fashion presentation--tentatively set for Oct. 16--at ACE Gallery in Los Angeles to celebrate the first in a series of books titled “FACEShellip;of the Los Angeles Fashion Industry.” The hardcover book will feature photos by Steve Anderson of “fashion icons and ingeacute;nues from seamstresses to designers and journalists to celebrity muses,” according to John Arguelles, regional director of FGI-LA and president of Lloyd Klein. After dinner on the second floor of the gallery, the VIP guests will join a larger group on the first floor.

The “FACES” launch party is one of several events FGI-LA is planning this fall. Also in the works are a members-only Fashion’s Night Out event with the Tiffany & Co. store in Beverly Hills on Sept. 10, a FGI Foundation bus tour of historic lights and neon signs in Los Angeles on Sept. 24, and a business panel focused on the Gen Y consumer, sponsored by JH Cohen and moderated by the California Fashion Association's Ilse Metchek on Sept. 29.The organization will also host its third networking cocktail party of the summer, dubbed HEAT, Part III, on Aug. 25 at the Stone Rose Lounge at the Sofitel hotel in Los Angeles.—Alison A.
