Recession? What Recession?

Dawn Baker and Lori Bzura of Happy LA

It seems the owners of Happy LA are extremely happy these days. Not only are they celebrating their Pacific Palisades store's third anniversary, which is quite a coup in this economic climate, but they are opening their second store on Thursday, Aug. 26, in hoity-toity Manhattan Beach. The new Happy LA store is in the seaside community's ritzy retail area at 1016 Manhattan Ave., not far from some stellar million-dollar houses overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

To celebrate the birthday of their Pacific Palisades store at 542 1/2 Palisades Drive, the store owners, Lori Bzura and Dawn Baker, are holding a trunk show on Saturday, featuring clothes from Paige Premium Denim, Bordeaux and Christy's of London. The retailers pride themselves on offering unique labels not carried by just everybody. They also treasure the mod beach look of their boutique, which keeps some well-heeled shoppers attired with the latest trends.

As if they weren't busy enough, the dynamic retail duo has also designed a new label, called Happy LA, which features basic essentials for Fall/Winter 2010. Think maxi dresses, silk smocked dresses, comfy cashmere sweaters and wraps, and cotton V-neck tees. Retail prices start at $52 for T-shirts and go up to $358 for a cashmere wrap. It's easy, comfortable dressing for women of all ages.
