New Looks for ATS, Moda LV

Located next door to MRket at The Venetian, Moda LV and Accessories The Show opened with a newly revamped look that mirrored MRket’s moody reception area and cheery green and white show floor.

All three shows are operated by Business Journals, and attendees at the Aug. 16–18 event were given access to all three shows.

Many of the Accessories The Show exhibitors are veterans of ATS’ longstanding New York show.

Many, such as Jacob Hassidim, owner of Los Angeles–based Zirconmania, noted a difference between the East Coast and West Coast show.

“It’s less traffic [than in New York],” Hassidim said, adding that he noted a change in the mood at the show. “We introduced a lot of new merchandise.”

Among the retailers crowding Hassidim’s booth was Los Angeles boutique owner Diane Merrick, who was on the hunt for accessories collections.

At Moda, Maggie Bermudez, national sales manager for Silk Culture Fashion Manufacturing Ltd., was returning to the show after a season at the MAGIC Marketplace.

Bermudez, who is based in the company’s Los Angeles office at the California Market Center, said this was the third Moda showing for Silk Culture. She praised the show’s new look—and the intimate setting.

“My existing customers would not meet me at MAGIC because it’s so big,” she said. “[At Moda this season], I got new customers I did not expect.”

Silk Culture sells in about 250 independent boutiques, Bermudez said, adding that some of her existing retailers turned out at Moda, but others said they were planning to catch up with her in New York.

“We’ve seen some of them here and will see some of them in New York at Coterie [in September],” she said.—Alison A. Nieder
