Strong and Steady Business at WWIN

The Women’s Wear In Nevada show at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino typically draws a loyal crowd. This season was no exception, as buyers turned out on Aug. 16, opening day, and stayed until the closing on Aug. 19.

“Monday was so insane, and [now] it’s Thursday and we’re still going strong,” saidMelody Fast, owner of the Melody Fast Showroom at the California Market Center.“We opened up new accounts and had a lot of reorder business. We got some really nice-size orders. We definitely beat last year. The stores that come here come to write.”

Wayne Qian, representing Lindi by Aria Collection, echoed the positive review of the show.

“It’s definitely been a good show,” he said. “The first day is always the best. We definitely got return customers and new accounts.”

Lindi is a novelty blouse line. The company is based in New York, but product is shipped from a warehouse in Ontario, Calif. Qian said he met with retailers from Massachusetts, Texas, New York, Florida and Bermuda.

WWIN organizers Specialty Trade Shows scheduled a late night on Aug. 16 to allow buyers more time to shop. Organizers asked exhibitors to remain until 8 p.m., but Margaret Cox, co-owner of the M&M Showroom in the CMC, said buyers kept shopping until at least 8:30 p.m. “If they wanted to keep working, we’d be here until midnight,” she said.—Alison A.
