Kasil Launches Collaboration With Stylist Taylor Jacobson

Kasil denim will kick off its first “The Workshop by Kasil” collaboration with stylist Taylor Jacobson, a former assistant of Rachel Zoe. The Kasil + Taylor Jacobson collaboration launches during the February edition of the Project Global Trade Show in Las Vegas.

Platinum-blonde Jacobson was known for her sharp tongue and edgy style in the reality TV show “The Rachel Zoe Project,” which documented the namesake celebrity stylist as she met with designers and dressed celebrities such as Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Garner. Last November, Jacobson left Team Zoe to work as a free-lance stylist. It was during this time that she met the creative director of Kasil, David Lim, through his public-relations representative.

“As soon as we met, we found the one thing we have in common is the same idea as far as how we would like the overall jean to look—which is clean, classic, no bells and whistles, just really simple,” Lim said.

The Kasil + Taylor Jacobson signature “Minx” fit in lightweight denim fabric has a super-stretchy legging fit. “I really like the ultra-skinny, narrow through the leg, very fitted in the knee, not a big opening at all,” Jacobson said.

The Minx is available in four different washes with an overall matte-black finish and wholesales for $76. Signature details include thin leather trim on the top of the back pockets. Jacobson also consulted on Kasil’s men’s and women’s denim Fall 2010 line, for which she offered her input to refine the collection. “I like less is more. That was a major thing in my consulting,” Jacobson said.

The Minx jean is the beginning of an expanded Kasil + Taylor Jacobson line that will include jackets, dresses and tops for Spring 2011. “It’s something that you can all wear with great jeans,” Jacobson said. Lim plans to post a short video documentary about the “making of” the Minx jean on the Web site after the launch. For more information, call (323) 588-6565.—Rhea Cortado
