Lawson Debuts Software Tailored for Fashion

Lawson Software debuted its Lawson For Fashion enterprise software on Feb. 18, having been in development for more than three years. Freacute;deacute;ric Champalbert, general manager of Lawson’s fashion division, promised the software will make business easier for fashion companies.

The system builds on the St. Paul, Minn.–based developer’s Lawson M3 Enterprise Management System. “The customers said, ’Okay, we have your engine, but we need more solutions to analyze the business,’” Champalbert said. A new version of the M3 Enterprise Management System also was released on Feb. 18.

Lawson For Fashion’s analysis tools are part of the developer’s programs such as product-lifecycle-management software. PLM is used heavily in the fashion industry.

The system includes the Lawson Fashion PLM program as well as an interface program that will help the PLM system communicate with Lawson’s enterprise resource planning system.

The system’s other functions include package-management software, which promises to push products through shipping and receiving quickly and efficiently.

Lawson For Fashion also offers the Assortment & Replenishment Planner, which helps forecast buying plans and inventories.

Another tool to help plan for the future is the system’s Lawson Analytics For Fashion, which helps the company develop an analysis through industry-specific scorecard templates. One of the system’s features is its advanced costing and pricing toolbox. Lawson promises it will help merchandisers source more effectively.
