Social Butterflies Showroom

The New Mart Suite 802 (213) 623-7266

Everything in Michelle Roy’s world sparkles, including her new showroom.

The designer of glittery accessories, crystal-encrusted T-shirts and bejeweled hats under the Michelle Roy Designs label opened a new showroom just in time for Los Angeles Fashion Market.

Roy shares the 1,200-square-foot space with Bridgette De Lacy, who in January launched a small line of whimsical contemporary dresses called The De Lacy Collection.

Both women were working in a space on Robertson Boulevard in Beverly Hills where Roy designed her array of bling and De Lacy was, and still is, the executive director of the company.

When the Robertson Boulevard lease ran out, the two decided to head to the heart of the Los Angeles Fashion District to have their own showroom—which doubles as a creative space for Roy to design her sparkly headbands, necklaces, belts, hair ornaments, cadet caps and T-shirts—and to see buyers.

“It felt like it was the right time to open up our own showroom,” Roy said.

The new space, located on the eighth floor of The New Mart, is filled with dazzling color and crystals. Cadet caps covered with Swarovski crystals are not far from shimmering hair ornaments in the shape of flowers and butterflies. Headbands covered with crystals fit snuggly on mannequin heads. Stretch bracelets with assorted beads are stacked high with leather cuffs decked out in, what else, crystals. Lariat belts that can double as necklaces are near bib necklaces.

Wholesale prices for the accessories, jewelry, hats and T-shirts range from $18 to $98.

On the other side of the room, De Lacy displays her selection of Modal cotton knit frocks with a comfortable feel. They have a sophisticated look with exquisite detailing at the neckline and hemline, employing touches of crystals or sequins. This is ready-to-wear that can be worn during the day or dressed up for an evening out on the town. Wholesale prices range from $32 and $72. The entire dress collection is made in Los Angeles, as is most of Michelle Roy’s line.—Deborah Belgum
