Fluxus to Open at Fashion Island

Less than one year after opening its first flagship store in Los Angeles’ Larchmont Village neighborhood, fashion brand Fluxus announced March 15 it will open a 1,329-square-foot store in a new wing of luxury retail center Fashion Island in Newport Beach, Calif.

The Fashion Island Fluxus boutique will open in the Nordstrom wing of Fashion Island sometime this spring. On April 16, Seattle-based Nordstrom will be opening a 138,000-square-foot full-line store on the grounds of a former Macy’s store.

The Nordstrom will be flanked by the Fluxus shop on one side and a yet-to-be-announced boutique on the other.

Fluxus started in business in 2007. Manufactured in Los Angeles, and designed by Jeffrey Sebelia, Fluxus is a casual brand that offers high-quality T-shirts, soft knits and avant-garde pieces for men, women and children. Retail price points run from $55 for a loose-fit T-shirt to $187 for the “Betsy” dress.

In May 2009, Fluxus held a grand opening for its first store in the quaint Larchmont Village neighborhood. Since then the label has debuted a boutique in the Brentwood Gardens retail center in Los Angeles’ Brentwood neighborhood.

These boutiques will be filled with the styles of the label’s head designer, “Project Runway” alum Jeffrey Sebelia. His Fluxus looks include deep-V tank tops, capelets and wraps.—Andrew Asch
