Beverly Hills Fashion Festival: Teresa Rosati

Dresses were on the mind of Polish designer Teresa Rosati, who presented her Spring 2011 collection at the Beverly Hills Fashion Festival on Nov. 6.

Her dress creations came in all shapes and sizes, borrowing looks from flamenco dancers, Southern belles and ballerinas.

Rosati, who launched her line in 1998, used all sorts of shimmery and shiny fabrics for evening gowns. Day looks employed gingham and cotton.

She selected bright colors that ranged from fuchsia and purple to red and royal blue. Otherwise she kept it conservative with white, gray and black.

Rosati favored strapless and off-the-shoulder dresses. She had fun playing with ruffles that could have come out of the book on how to craft a flamenco dress. Ruffles bulged off the side of a beautiful fuchsia dress or were shaped into a shawl to accent a strapless white evening gown.

Southern belles came into play with day dresses whose skirts were lifted out with wire hoops or layered with petticoats. Hems were shorter in the front than in the back, giving them a diagonal look.Rosati served up an ample portion of fresh sophisticated looks that would be right at home in Beverly Hills.—Deborah Belgum
