Stone Blue Jeans Lands New Design Director

Los Angeles–based Stone Blue Jeans, a maker of premium denim for women, has hired Angela Furlong as its director of design. Furlong, who left her post as creative director of women’s and men’s denim and sportswear for William Rast to accept the position, is being tasked with leading the brand in its efforts to cater to the contemporary market.

“Throughout her career, Angie has consistently demonstrated strong strategic leadership with an impressive track record in the premium-denim market,” said Scott Drake, Stone Blue’s president, in a statement. “Her collective experience has afforded her over 25 years of denim expertise at all levels. She understands how to translate consumer insights into design strategies that win in the marketplace. Angie will provide valuable perspective and tremendous experience to the Stone Blue team.” Furlong has worked with Guess? Inc., Lucky Brand Jeans and Blue Dot, a contemporary line she founded.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Stone Blue family and contributing to the brand’s direction by helping to cultivate and foster a signature identity that will effortlessly evolve over time,” Furlong said in a statement. “Given Stone Blue’s world-renowned reputation as a premier denim lab and wash development house, I love the way the brand is able to produce the line entirely in-house, ultimately offering the unparalleled capability to provide the highest quality for the consumer at much less than premium-denim counterparts. I look forward to bringing additional insight to the Stone Blue brand.”
