Signs of Steady Recovery at Las Vegas Shows

There were plenty of indications that economic recovery is underway at the recent apparel trade shows in Las Vegas, although the rebound appears to be modest rather than robust.

Buyers had plenty of ground to cover, including the MAGIC Marketplace, which was split between the Las Vegas Convention Center and the Mandalay Bay Convention Center; MAGIC’s sister shows Project and Pooltradeshow, both at Mandalay Bay; MRket, Moda Las Vegas, AccessoriesTheShow, CurveNV and Capsule at The Venetian; the Offprice show at the Sands Expo and Convention Center; Women’s Wear in Nevada at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino; ENK Vegas at the Wynn Resort; and Sourcing at MAGIC at the Las Vegas Convention Center’s South Hall.

Organizers of the more than 15 concurrent trade shows reported an increase in traffic, and many exhibitors said buyers were writing orders at the shows.

But Immediates continued to be in high demand, and buyers were placing cautious orders. The increased traffic included several international retailers, but the packed trade show schedule may have siphoned off some of the U.S. traffic from East Coast stores.
