Los Angeles Fashion Week: California Market Center's F2 Focus Show

Emerging designers and exhibitors from the Focus Apparel & Accessories Show at the California Market Center hit the runway on March 16 in a Fall 2011 lineup that had everything from brightly colored outfits to somber plaid skirts and little black dresses.

Rock Chiq from Cupertino, Calif., showed off its edgy and provocative designs that included black leather jackets, black leather dresses and a peach-colored cutout dress whose revealing top left little to the imagination.

First Street, a newcomer to the fashion world, tantalized with popsicle-bright hues and eye-catching designs that ranged from a shiny purple trench coat to satiny blouses in bright oranges and fuchsias.

NeuNel, another relative newbie on the block and a prodigy of business incubator Fashion Business Inc., directed the mood toward vintage fashion with a modern twist with plaid asymmetrical skirts, thick capes and cowl-neck slim fitting dresses.

Rounding out the runway show was Camilia Skikos, a former Gap designer whose label is named after her. Skikos’ take on Fall 2011 involved sharp black geometric designs overlaid on royal-blue dresses or a royal-blue one-shoulder shrug with a cutout design overlaid on a black dress. Her silhouettes were clean, simple and artistic. —Deborah Belgum
