Los Angeles Fashion Week: Chemline

Designer Averi Bell blends vintage sophistication with luxurious—and environmentally friendly—textiles in her Chemline collection, which was featured on the runway on March 11 at Concept Los Angeles Fashion Week at Ace Gallery in Los Angeles.Using a palette of black, cream and forest green, Bell created a collection packed with plenty of pretty feminine details. One recurring theme was a scalloped edge, which appeared on the hems of jackets, as well as in other unexpected ways. A tailored vest had the scalloped detail running down the spine. A black gown had a long scalloped scarf that ended wrapped around the model’s ankles.

The Los Angeles–based collection is produced domestically using eco-friendly fabrics such as Tencel velvet, organic cotton, hemp fleece, recycled polyester and a herringbone fabric made from yak fur. —Alison A. Nieder
