Levi's Debuts New Retail Concept in Orange County, Calif.

Levi Strauss & Co. took inspiration from the company’s 19th century roots for its newest concept store, Levi’s Dry Goods, which celebrated its grand opening May 13 at The Market Place retail center in Tustin, Calif.

At the center of the 5,000-square-foot Tustin store is a 12-seat denim bar, with one side reserved for women and another side reserved for men.The denim bar offers a wide range of Levi’s products for juniors as well as adults who can shop for Levi’s signature 501 jeans and other jeans styles, such as the 510, 514, 527 and 569 pants.

Tops and hoodies also are available at the store. However, Levi’s more-premium products, such as its fashion-inspired Made & Crafted line, will not be available at the store, said Erica Archambault, a Levi’s representative.She said this was the first store with this concept, and there were no immediate plans to open more Levi’s Dry Goods stores, named after the California store that Levi’s founder Levi Strauss opened in 1853.More Orange County retailOn May 13, Lululemon Athletica debuted a 3,000-square-foot store in South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Calif., which is eight miles north of The Market Place.

South Coast Plaza’s Lululemon is located on Level One, across the hall from the Apple store. The yoga- and running-inspired activewear retailer moved into the space formerly occupied by Bombay, the furniture store.

The British Columbia–based Lululemon runs a fleet of more than 137 stores in North America and Australia.—Andrew Asch
