Concept Fashion Week Kicks Off With Designer Installations

From video installations to a garden parties, Concept LA Fashion Week presented designers through a series of installations. There were an assortment of looks on display.
Henry Duarte created a video installation in collaboration with director Randy Focazio. The dark rock n’ roll film featured clothing dipped in wax and girls in black eye makeup reminiscent of KISS. It was a look into the designer’s imagination via some creative editing. Think doppelganger narrative with a girl transforming into her darker self in the mirror. Duarte said he enjoyed the project, his first foray into film, because he was able clearly relate his design vision.
Curly-V’s Spring collection had a campy Jackie O theme. Fun, feminine dresses were quirkily cute, yet pretty. “I want the girls to feel pretty, that’s my number one thing. At the end of the day I think a girl wants to feel sexy, but I still want to get my message across.” Not one to take himself seriously, dresses came in clean ’60s shapes with vinyl appliqués and tiny flowers topped with oh-so-cute vintage sunglasses.
For Summer Rose inspiration came from an esoteric-tinged Ice Age theme with huntresses bedecked in feathers galore. Mo Wear presented a hard-edged look inspired by urban life and street art. And a tattoo studio featured art by Thank You X and menswear looks by Chambers.
