MILITARY CHIC

Go Behind the Scenes

From camouflage to officer's jackets and leather details, "Military Chic" is the look of the season. To create this week's Fall '13 shoot, I pulled inspiration from the European runways and Vegas trade shows for an editorial take on the trend. Designers ranged from denim brands such as G-Star RAW to upcoming and established designers including Sarah Scott, Skingraft, Kill City, Cerre, L.A.M.B. and Robert Rodriguez Collection.

The austere cement backdrop of the iconic 6th Street Bridge in downtown LA (think “Grease,” “Dark Knight Rises” and videos by Madonna and Kanye West) was the perfect canvas for the tonal palette. To carry off the tres chic military look, I cast model of the moment, Margaux Brooke, a frontrunner on the Oxygen network’s hit reality show “The Face,” which stars supermodels Coco Rocha, Naomi Campbell and Karolina Kurkova.

With Ben Cope shooting, Margaux as our "face" and the bridge - a soon memory-to-be (the bridge is slated to be torn down) - this shoot is one for the history books. Here are a few of my behind-the-scenes shots from the shoot.
