A. Hutching is a new menswear line with a clean, fashion-forward aesthetic made from luxurious materials.

“It’s about really fine materials and clean, basic silhouettes,” Design Director Eric Munoz said.

The collection, which launched for Fall ’13, includes fully fashioned sweaters, cut-and-sew knits, trousers, denim and handmade cobbler-style shoes.

A.Hutching, which will hit stores in June, has already been picked up by American Rag, Akai Ito, Fred Segal Man, H. Lorenzo and Guild.

While the collection is new, it is created from a wide body of experience. The brand is being overseen and managed through Dm.Resource, Munoz’s design and development studio. Munoz works with A.Hutching owner and Creative Director Alma Lewis to develop and realize his vision for the brand. Munoz, who started in vintage resale, has worked with brands such as Odyn Vovk and The West Is Dead and collaborated on special projects with Diesel. Menswear designer and buyer Antonio Barragan has partnered with them to do sales.

“We’ve helped Alma get right to the forefront of designing and developing his collection,” Barragan said. “We’ve gone directly into market into some of the best stores without seasons of trial and error.”

The A. Hutching target customer is stylish and fashion forward, but the product suits a wide range of age groups and demographics. “That’s the great thing about this brand—we wanted it to be a bridge between different markets and different age groups,” Munoz said.

Silhouettes vary from loose to tailored, but the focus is mostly on creating garments from high-quality materials. “For us, I think it’s more about raw materials and being able to do something with the raw materials,” Munoz said. For example, a basic sweater is made luxurious in an alpaca/silk/cashmere blend, and shoes are shrunken through the dye process. Wholesale prices are competitive at less than $40 for T-shirts and $250 to $260 for boiled wool jackets and alpaca/silk/ cashmere sweaters. Shoes are $300 to 305, and a cotton/silk parka is around $185. For more information, call (323) 301-0439.
