Driven By Design was held at the LA Mart in downtown Los Angeles

The worlds of fashion and interiors converged at Driven by Design LA, the runway event at the LA Mart, which debuted on Oct. 4.

Organized by Lela Christine, founder of Fab Five Lifestyle magazine, and Lori Neal, principal designer at Diamond Interiors LA, which operates an interiors showroom in the LA Mart. The cavernous space was set to look a boutique hotel, with sleek white furniture and hanging crystal lights.

The event featured designers Thai Nguyen, Dena Burton, Brian “BK” Phillips, Dominique Siby Designer of Felio Siby and Rocky Gathercole on the runway, and installations by accessories by Karlita Designs, Yukiko and Sarah Horne Jewelry.

Sponsors included the L.A. Mart and Porche, as well as Jalisco Mobile Taco Grill and Ice Cream Sundae Divas, which provided tacos and mini ice cream sundaes at the event.

The Collections

Nguyen showed glamorous gowns and embellished eveningwear inspired by his Vietnamese heritage.

Phillips showed men’s and women’s contemporary streetwear, including pieces made from reworked vintage military coats from around the world.

Crowd favorite Dena Burton showed breezy dresses, jumpsuits and separates fit for a jet-set vacation.

Siby’s menswear included tailored trousers and shorts worn with crisp shirts with leather elbow patches.

Gathercole showed theatrical pieces ranging from architectural structures that encased the body to dramatic gowns.
