A.P.C. Moves Opening Dates for LA Stores

Mon Dieu. The much-anticipated A.P.C. stores in downtown Los Angeles and Silver Lake will not be opening as soon as we had hoped.

There had been rumors they would be stocking their shelves by the beginning of 2015, but that date has been pushed back to April for the downtown LA shop at 123-125 W. Ninth St., just two doors away from the hip Australian apothecary store Aesop. The Silver Lake outpost, at 3517 W. Sunset Blvd., is now scheduled to open in mid-April.

The A.P.C. flagship store on Melrose Place

A.P.C. is joining a very high-end collection of contemporary retailers popping up in the Los Angeles Fashion District. They run from Acne Studios just doors away from the under-construction A.P.C. to Oak, another few doors down. Around the corner is Tanner Goods, a quality casual wear store based in Portland, Ore.

A.P.C., which stands for Atelier de Production et de Creation, was founded in 1987 by Tunisian-born designer Jean Touitou. His clothes are known for their quality fabric and minimalist designs. Touitou was in Los Angeles last October when A.P.C.'s only California store had a party to celebrate its opening at 8420 Melrose Place. On hand was Kanye West, husband to Kim Kardashian, who has designed a few collections for A.P.C.
