There are lots of cute little polywogs out there learning to swim, but that water can be scary.

For years, Los Angeles-based Speedo has made a collection called Begin to Swim. They are brightly colored products designed to support children learning to swim.

There are flotation devices that help ease first timers into the idea of floating in the water, products that provide support for children who are already comfortable in the water and items that help children develop independent skills with little support.

Now Speedo is partnering with the American Red Cross to be the exclusive licensee for the non-profit organization in the Begin to Swim category.

Starting in 2015, select items from the Begin to Swim category will have the official mark of the Red Cross, helping to make water safety a priority. Those items include swim toys, fins, kick boards as well as apparel and swimwear with UV protection.

Speedo and the Red Cross are also planning to work together to develop new products with the American Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council.
