Julius Staying in China
Julius and his many friends are in China for the long haul.
Saban Brands in Los Angeles, which acquired the Paul Frank brand five years ago, has signed a long-term licensing deal with Grand Union International Trading. Grand Union will be the long-term master licensee and retailer for Paul Frank in Hong Kong, Macau and China.
This is the largest licensing deal in Paul Frank's history and means you should see a lot more T-shirts and backpacks with Julius the monkey and his cohorts printed on them.
Saban has been working with the Grand Union team ever since it acquired Paul Frank Industries in 2010. Right now there are about 100 Paul Frank stores sprinkled throughout China, but with this new agreement, there are plans to boost that to 500 outposts.
With the deal, Grand Union also will have the right to all future Paul Frank-branded cafes, so there will be more opportunity to sit down with the monkey for lunch.
