Seated in Style

I recently wrote about the work done at MIT’s Open Style Lab designing apparel for people with a range of disabilities.

Today I read about recent design school grad Lucy Jones, who took her Parsons instructor's challenge to “design a project that could change the world” to heart.

Jones’ Seated Collection is designed for “self-propelled, seated disabled people and it landed her Parson’s Womenswear Designer of the Year award on May 19.

Jones was inspired to create the Seated Collection by her cousin, who is paralyzed on one side of his body, making dressing himself very difficult.

"I remember thinking how strange it was... that I'm at one of the best design schools in the world and we're not tackling these issues," she told Fashionista, which has the full story and more photos of Jones’ Seated Collection.
