Inside the Industry

WTRLSS, a new biotech company, has announced the launch of a technology to transform the $100 billion global denim industry from one of the world’s dirtiest industries into one of the cleanest. WTRLSS technology cuts water in the denim dyeing and finishing process by up to 99.99 percent. The first-of-its-kind digital dyeing technology transforms complex dyeing and finishing processes into one simple step. Every pair of jeans produced today typically requires around 20 gallons of water in the dyeing and finishing process; WTRLSS’ new technology reduces this to two tablespoons. Early product adoption is already underway. The Ha-Meem Group, one of the world’s largest denim manufacturers, producing jeans for Levi’s, Gap, H&M and others, has partnered on a production pilot.

Discover e-Solutions, a provider of Product Lifecycle Management solutions for the fashion, apparel, footwear and retail industries, has announced the launch of its Digital Product Password Solution. As Digital Product Passport requirements continue to develop, brands face the challenge of bringing together product information, material and supplier data, certifications, quality records, and supporting documentation from across the supply chain. “Digital Product Passports are fundamentally a data and governance challenge,” said Colin Marks, DeSL CEO. “Brands need to understand where information comes from, how it was maintained and what evidence supports it. By building DPP capabilities into PLM, that information can be managed as part of the product life cycle and used to create passports when and where they are needed.”
