SOURCING Reinforces Its Global Allure







Key sourcing elements for the global apparel industry were represented at Sourcing by Informa, held Aug. 10-12 in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. 

A thousand global manufacturers and service providers from regions including Africa, China, Indonesia, Southeast Asia, Turkey and India assembled to meet the North American market.

“We come to MAGIC because buyers from all over the country come here and exhibitors are getting orders and meeting new buyers,” said Dr. A. Sakthivel, chairman of the India Apparel Export Promotion Council, which took 25 booths.

“America is the biggest market for India apparel; we do about 35 percent of our business and roughly $6 billion with the USA. India has the raw materials, good design, delivery, relationships and has already started adapting to AI technology,” added Sakthivel.

The easy-to-wear, soft and lighter tri-blend fleece crop pants for women from Los Angeles Apparel, based and manufactured in Los Angeles, did so well in retail the company just released styles for wholesale.

Los Angeles–based Cotton 2 Blend provides T-shirts locally cut and sewn with a focus on bringing more production back to Los Angeles.

New York–based Greige connects small- and medium-sized apparel brands with a curated network of leading and audited factories in India and manages production on the ground for them.

Educational panels ran daily while the Sustainability + Social Good Gallery featured sustainable exhibitors verified by Hey Social Good.

“All the fashion-tech innovations are implemented by the manufacturers here. Whatever category you can think of in the supply chain is on the show floor right now,” said Pinar van der Vegt, head of SOURCING by Informa.
