Cautious Buyers Make the Rounds at LV Trade Shows

A slow economy did not stop the apparel industry from making the biannual trek to Las Vegas for the MAGIC Marketplace and the growing cohort of satellite shows, but most exhibitors reported continued cautious buying and requests for quick-turn merchandise from buyers shopping the shows.

In addition to its longstanding MAGIC Man, WWDMAGIC, Streetwear at MAGIC, WWDMAGIC at the Hilton, MAGICkids and Sourcing at MAGIC shows at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the giant trade show got a little larger with the addition of two new shows, S.L.A.T.E. and Ecollection. Swim show ISAM returned, as did Lingerie Americas, both at the Hilton Convention Center. And MAGIC’s two subsidiary shows, Project Global Trade Show and Pooltradeshow, set up shop at the Sands Expo and Convention Center and the LVCC, respectively.

Among the satellite shows were the Off-Price Specialist Show, Womenswear in Nevada and Kidshow, the ASAP Global Sourcing Show, the Global Eco show, Accessories the Show and Moda Las Vegas, MRket, and CurveNV.

New shows included ENK Vegas, Guild, the PGA Expo and When I Move You Move, organized by designer Christian Audigier.
