Ellen von Unwerth's Frauleins at Play

In lingerie speak, Valentine’s Day is like Christmas for intimates aficionados poised to be unwrapped. Just in time for the romantic holiday in February, Taschen will release the art edition of “Fräulein,” a meaty 482-page picture tome by model-turned-photographer Ellen von Unwerth, who muses over the female form barely covered in sheer skivvies and sometimes not at all.

Each copy of the $700 limited-edition book for really big coffee tables is housed in a clamshell box and signed by von Unwerth. For $1,800 you can get the book and a silver gelatin print of either the “Peaches” or “Fraulein” photographs.

Von Unwerth's work has been seen in the editorial pages of Vogue, Interview, Vanity Fair and i-D and advertising campaigns for brands such as Victoria's Secret, Banana Republic, Guess, Diesel and Chanel. Peppered between the burlesque performance, fashion and fetish photographs in the book are lots of famous faces (and bodies) including Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss, Vanessa Paradis, Britney Spears, Eva Mendes, Dita von Teese, Adriana Lima, Carla Bruni, Eva Green, Christina Aguilera and Monica Bellucci.
