Magic's Big Skateramp

Since Action Sports Retailer Trade Expo called it quits last year, the race to pick up ASR’s position as the dominant activewear market has been gaining steam.

The Agenda Trade Show has lead the pack as the go-to-trade event for skate, surf, snow and fashion on the West Coast. At its upcoming run in August 3-4 in Huntington Beach, it expects more than 5,000 buyers.

Vying for some of that business is MAGIC, which produces the biggest fashion trade event in North America. In February, it debuted RIDE UNLTD., a MAGIC section devoted to board sports fashions. For its sophomore run on Aug.22-24 in Las Vegas, RIDE will feature high profile exhibitors such as Quiksilver, Hurley and Matix.

To show these board sports nuts that MAGIC is the serious place for core surf and skate biz, MAGIC’s producers will construct 4,000-square-foot skate course developed by California Skateparks, one of America’s top skatepark developers. MAGIC promises that the course will be used primarily for demonstrations for vendors’ skate teams.Oh yeah.
