Reading Design

Johnny Tucker, editor of England’s Retail Equipment and Design magazine, distilled his visual display journeys into a book called “Retail Desire: Design, Display and the Art of the Visual Merchandiser.” It was published in February by Britain’s RotoVision.

Tucker takes the reader through a visual tour of iconic apparel stores, including the Prada New York Epicenter and Selfridges & Co. in England. He also details the sparkling visuals of non-apparel retailers such as the Instants lottery ticket dispenser in the United Kingdom.

The book does feature interviews with visual design gurus such as Siemon Scamell-Katz but generally is heavy on visuals and light on text.
